Birth and Early Life:

Michael Madhusudan Dutt was born on January 25, 1824, in Sagar Island, Jessore (now in Bangladesh). His father, Rajnarayan Dutt, was a successful lawyer. From childhood, Madhusudan showed a deep interest in literature and languages.

Education:

He studied at Hindu College, Kolkata, where he developed a passion for English literature. Later, he moved to Madras (Chennai), converted to Christianity, and took the name Michael.

Literary Contributions:

Michael Madhusudan Dutt was a pioneer in Bengali drama, epic poetry, and the sonnet form. His use of blank verse in Bengali poetry was revolutionary.
